Ireland West...Shannon airport

E-mail Print PDF
When traveling to the west of Ireland Shannon airport is the airport to choose. It is located in a remote area so there are no traffic problems either entering or exiting the airport. It is also a small and compact airport and there are no great queues either checking in or exiting. On leaving the airport terminal building the car park is right there in front of you and you can be in your car in a matter of minutes. The restaurant there is great and you can have a really good Irish breakfast or go the healthy route and have a selection of options. Any time i am traveling, no matter to where, i try to use Shannon and for someone like me living in the west of Ireland it is a wonderful asset. Getting in and out of Dublin is difficult never mind getting in and out of Dublin airport. Long live the regional airports and long live Shannon. If you are traveling to the far south of the country then Cork is your option. This is another small regional airport and located just on the outskirts of Cork city. It is not quiet as accessible as Shannon but it is once again better than Dublin.
If you wish to include Dublin in your trip to Ireland and also the west then fly into either Dublin or Shannon on your way in and leave from the other one on your way back. Just make sure that you check the flight for any stop-overs as they can vary from day to day and you can avoid delays by picking your days correctly. I hope this helps you with your plans.

“…Our trip to Ireland was VERY, VERY memorable, thanks to one David Hogan. Must give him an A+. We had sights and informative knowledge that could never have been without him. We did a great amount of traveling. The Bed & Breakfasts were of top grade. Just wish I could unroll my eyes to share all I have seen. The Cliffs are awesome. Galway is such a lovely place. I did not take pictures. My daughter did and shall send them to me. I bought a lot of post cards for memory….”
